How to save Youtube videos on PC and convert them!

Watching youtube videos is one of my past time from the minute my wireless broadband has been installed last year. I would say the quality of video is great and comparable to the VCD format. I’ve been experimenting on some ways on how I can save those videos on my computer and play them back. After thorough research, this is what I’ve came up with...

1. Save the videos the old fashion way... As the video gets buffered and played on your PC, your web browser saves them in the Temp Folder. Internet Explorer or Mozilla for example saves the buffered video in any of the following folders in your primary drive “Temporary Internet Files” , “Temp” or [C:\Users\” your username”\AppData\Local\Temp] for Vista PC... Searching and using this method is a little bit tricky since the file name is different and randomized.

2. Save the videos using third party websites... A lot of websites offer this method by you pasting the URL of the video to their site, pressing “enter” or click “submit” and the site will give you a download link to save video to your PC. A sample website that does this is keepvid.com

3. Use a Freeware to do it for you. Lots of them are available online and all you have to do is to google the keyword “Save+youtube+video” and plenty of results will be displayed. Among all the available freewares that saves videos, my choice would be “KeepV Flash Converter.” KeepV Flash Converter is a free and powerful software that download and convert Flash / FLV files (such as YouTube videos) faster and better than most transcoder. Watch your downloaded videos on your iPod or with Windows Media Player with this completely free tool. Available conversions: Flash to AVI (divx); Flash to MOV (MAC); Flash to MP4 (iPod, PSP...); Flash to 3GP (Mobile). You can download this piece of freeware on their website http://keepv.com/
